This is an authentic vintage German enamel street sign, Römerweg (Roman Way), a classic example of historical German street signage common in German-speaking regions. Because of Germany's extensive Roman history, many roads with this name follow the routes of ancient Roman roads, including the cities of Berlin, Frankfurt and some areas of Austria, Switzerland, & others.
