WW2 (USA) American Defense Service Medal - Authentic Issue
Established on June 28, 1941, the American Defense Service Medal was established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to boost morale during a limited state of emergency between September 8, 1939 and December 7, 1941.

To Army personnel in recognition of 12 months of honorable service
To Navy personnel for 10 days or more of active duty service
Inclusive dates: September 8, 1938 to December 7, 1941.
For service outside the Continental United States, service clasps were authorized for wear. They include:
1. "FOREIGN SERVICE"
2. "BASE"
3. "FLEET"
4. "SEA"
Notes:
- When the ribbon was worn alone, a bronze star was worn on the ribbon denoting award of a service clasp.
- Navy issued a bronze "A" device for wear on the ribbon for those who served aboard vessels operating in actual or potential contact with Axis forces in the Atlantic between June 22, 1941, and December 7, 1941.
The service star and "A" device were not allowed to be worn on the ribbon at the same time (Only 1 ribbon device was authorized on the ribbon at a time).
