WW2 (USA) American Campaign Medal w/Ribbon Bar - Authentic Issue

Established on November 6, 1942 (amended March 15, 1946 establishing a closing date) by President Franklin D. Roosevelt for service during WWII within the American Theater of Operations. It was 1 of 3 campaign medals for service in World War Two Theaters of Operations.

Criteria:
Awarded to any member of the US Armed Forces who served in the American Theater of Operations during the period from December 7, 1941 to March 2, 1946 or was awarded a combat decoration while in combat against the enemy. The service must have been an aggregate of one year within the continental United States, or thirty consecutive days outside the continental United States, or sixty nonconsecutive days outside the continental United States, but within the American Theater of Operations.

Note: Service stars were issued for those participating in combat operations in the American Theater.

DESCRIPTION:
Obverse:
Navy cruiser underway with a B-24 Liberator bomber flying overhead. In the foreground is a sinking enemy submarine while the background displays the skyline of a city. At the top, the words AMERICAN CAMPAIGN.

Reverse:
Same design as both the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. It depicts an American bald eagle between the dates 1941 – 1945 and the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Ribbon:
Blue: Represents the Americas; the central blue, white, and red stripes, taken from the American Defense Service Medal ribbon, represents the continuance of American defense after Pearl Harbor.

White/Black Stripes: Represents the German conflict on the Atlantic Coast.

Red/White Stripes: Represents the Japanese conflict on the Pacific Coast.
