This is an authentic WW2 (1945) U.S. military machete. The handle is constructed from a plastic composite material (possibly bakelite) and is in an olive drab color, secured with rivets. It features a hooked pommel with a lanyard hole, a carbon steel utility blade featuring a thick spine and a rounded tip, & measures approximately 23" total length with a blade length of 18". These machetes served as survival tools, landing force weapons for the Marine Corps and Army, & jungle clearing tools.
Manufactured & issued primarily during WW2; this one produced by manufacturer True Temper, maker marked as such & stamped, "U.S." & 1945.
Note: The attached lanyard is not original and although U.S. military issue, the sheath is likely not original to THIS machete.
