Vintage (ca. 1950s) German (Enamel) Persil Washing Powder Advertising Sign

$225.00

This is an authentic vintage German enamel advertising sign for Persil (by Henkel) washing powder/laundry detergent.

Vintage ca. 1950s/1960s & sourced directly from the region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

It's a flat sign w/tapered edges and has a solid covering of enamel (save for a few areas of wear). It’s a solid, heavyweight piece with a few enamel vacancies, particularly in the normal locations...the corners - indicative of standard age wear consistent with age. Please review photos carefully.

These signs were produced in Germany (by Henkel company) and used to hang outside shops that sold Persil washing powder in the 50s/60s. Persil was introduced in 1907 as the first self-acting laundry detergent.

The name is derived from two of its original ingredients: sodium perborate and sodium silicate.

Sign Features:
- Persil lettering in distinct font w/drop shadow
- Red oval "Henkel" logo
