Vintage (ca. 1950s/70s) German (Enamel) Street Sign - "Karlstrasse"

$158.00

This is an authentic classic German enamel street sign - "Karlstrasse" (Karlstraße). These distinctive signs are characterized by their cobalt blue porcelain enamel finish over a heavy sheet metal base, accented with white sans-serif block lettering and a thin white inner border line. The sign carries the name Karlstrasse referencing the historically rich name across German-speaking countries.

Vintage ca. 1950s-1970s & sourced directly from the region of Saarland, Germany.

This sign features a double "ss" instead of the German ligature "ß" (Eszett). Older enamel signs, particularly those produced in the mid-20th century often favored using "SS" for consistency and clarity.

The sign is convex with a solid covering of enamel. It’s a solid, medium weight piece presenting very few blemishes but standard age wear consistent with its age should be expected. Please review photos carefully.
