This is an authentic Brazilian, 10 cruzeiros banknote issued in 1962 by the Ministry of Finance & in good, circulated condition.
By 1967, inflation devalued the cruzeiro virtually useless and in February of that year, the military government decreed a replacement currency, the Cruzeiros Novos. As part of the currency transition, these banknotes were over-stamped with an equivalence stamp (1 Centavo, Banco Central) w/the corresponding value of the banknote in the new currency & used provisionally until its final demise...1970.
These notes were issued between 1942 & 1967 as part of the first series of the Brazilian cruzeiro currency. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1970 & are no longer legal tender.
