This is an authentic Confederate States of America (CSA) '50-Cent' fractional currency banknote clearly marked by the '50' in the upper right corner and the text "Fifty Cents" across the center. It was issued on 1 September 1862 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The currency is obsolete and thus, no longer legal tender.

Highlighting its function as legal tender within North Carolina, the banknote note states, "Receivable in Payment of all Public Dues". It's redeemable on or before 1 January 1866, payable by the Treasury.
