WWI “U.S. ENGINEER CORPS" COMPASS.

Antique - 1918

A prismatic Verner’s Pattern Compass Mk VIII.

Manufactured by Cruchon & Emons (C-E) of France.

DESCRIPTION:
Solid brass construction; hinged cover. The lid folds back revealing an aluminum floating face with a black painted center with markings to the inside and outside of the face.

Obverse: engraved, "Engineer Corps" and "U.S."
Reverse: "C.E." ,"No 24680”, & "1918."

Measurements (approximate):
5.5 cm dia
2 cm depth

HISTORY:
Verner Patter VIII were widely used during the First World War. Verner’s pattern is based on Charles Augustu Schmalacarder’s patent.

Note: compass has not been tested but is an authentic WWI piece. Has standard age wear consistent with its age; minor flaws & wear should be expected.
