This Top Dome is a fiberglass Cast from an original, Pre-1939 Mark 1 K6 phone booth; last placed at Trafalgar Square in London England at Post Code WC2N 5DS. The telephone sign is replicated in 6.5mm laminated safety glass (originals were made of 100% glass) and are framed beautifully, transformed to appear authentic and depict a true representation of the original.
Brand new products 100% manufactured in, and sourced from England (Lincolnshire).
A very cost effective solution for an office, hospitality environment, man-cave, or home; to display an iconic image of British history.
HISTORY:
The phone box began use in 1927 and as you can imagine, materials were much different. The telephone sign itself was made of pure glass. Over time, improvements were made in glass production...think car windshields. Historically, they were pure glass and if broken, shattered into splintered pieces making them more dangerous. These reproductions are made of "safety glass" so that if broken, the bleakest resembles small pieces of rock.
The British phone boxes went out of production in the mid 1980s but are still around, recognizable, and a British cultural icon.
Today, people use them for props and things such as weddings, parties, or you might see them in bars or pubs as show pieces. As such, they get shipped around the world. You can actually see one on an episode of Britains Got Talent.
