This is an authentic Civil War-era US Navy bayonet that features a distinctive yataghan blade, consistent with those designed for Merrill M1862 or Colt M1841 rifles. It has a ribbed brass grip and a brass cross-guard, designed to lock onto a firearm's barrel. Has the initials S & J stamped on the handle.
