This is an authentic vintage German aluminum Post Office warning sign. Signs like this were commonly posted at official buildings, technical facilities, or restricted areas managed by the German Federal Post Office (Deutsche Bundespost) to prohibit trespassing on their facilities. It is a piece of German postal history, once used to protect the facilities of the Deutsche Bundespost.
The Deutsche Bundespost was the state-run postal and telecommunications service of West Germany (1947-1995) until it was dissolved as a result of reunification. At its height, it was the largest employer in the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany). Following reunification and privatization reforms in the 1990s, the organization was split into three major publicly traded companies that still exist today:
Deutsche Post AG - Handles traditional postal/parcel services (now part of DHL Group).
Deutsche Telekom - Manages telecommunications.
Postbank - Provides banking services.
Vintage ca. 1970s & sourced directly from the region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
It’s an aluminum light-weight but solid sign in really good condition. A few presentation of paint scratching w/standard age wear consistent with its age. Please review photos carefully.
