This is an authentic U.S. Military Universal Tie Down Assembly (National Stock Number 2590-053-3628). A vintage (1970s) piece of heavy-duty military vehicle hardware. They served as a structural anchor point to secure cargo straps, equipment, or canvas tops to the body of military tactical vehicles & transport trucks, most notably on military vehicles like the M38 / M38A1 Willys Jeep.
Description:
It features a square steel backing sheet stamped with a central protective dome and four distinct protruding pins (or heavy rivets) designed to interlock with tie-down brackets or hooks. Constructed from heavy gauge industrial steel. The rectangular depressions stamped at the margins are typical factory alignment or index markers from the manufacturing process.
These are "new old stock" (NOS), meaning they are original parts that have never been used. Packaging wrap indicates production date as July 1971.
