WW2 (Nazi Germany) Wound Badge (in Black) - Authentic Issue

The Wound Badge was instituted by Wilhelm II to reward and recognize the sacrifice of German Military personnel wounded in active service during World War I.

Adolf Hitler re-instituted the Badge during the 1939 Polish Campaign by combining the Army and Navy types into one award versus reinstituting the World War I Naval Wound Badge.

Note: Adolf Hitler was awarded the wound badge during his service in WWI.

Variants:
Gold Badge: Conferred for five or more wounds (or lost a limb).
Silver Badge: Conferred for three or four wounds.
Black Badge: Conferred for one or two wounds.

Description:
Blackened & unmarked. This wound badge is the same variation as was awarded in WWI with one exception; the addition of the Swastika to the helmet.

Obverse:
Depicts a Stahlhelm (Steel Helmet) emblazend w/the Swastika overlaying crossed swords on a pebbled field within a laurel branch wreath.

Reverse:
Vertical pin-back w/functional hinge/catch assembly.

Measurements (approximate):
38.5 mm x 43.3 mm
