This is an authentic Nazi Germany Wehrmacht aluminum mess hall spoon from a WW2 era German Armed Forces mess hall.
Description:
This particular spoon is "likely" from the Eastern front, most probably east of East Prussia in a former Soviet Satellite country. Based on data provided at time of collection, it was recovered during an exposition dig at a battlefield of a former Soviet Republic. As such, its condition is fair due to its lengthy time buried in the soil, but still prominently depicts the Eagle/Swastika logo & maker mark at the reverse.
Markings:
- Depicts the Wehrmacht eagle (the symbol for the German military) at the underside spoon handle. Also contains the manufacturers mark on the underside stem, "W.U.S.39"
- The marking, "W.U.S." is the abbreviation for "Wehrmacht Unterkunft Verwaltung" (Armed Forces Accommodation Administration) and the 39 is likely the year of production, 1939.
