This is an authentic aluminum Wehrmacht mess hall spoon of Nazi Germany. This piece is from a WW2 era German Armed Forces mess hall.
Description:
This particular spoon is "likely" from the Eastern front, most probably east of East Prussia in a former Soviet Satellite country. Based on data provided at time of collection, it was recovered during an exposition dig at a battlefield of a former Soviet Republic. As such, its condition is fair due to its lengthy time buried in the soil, but still prominently displays the Wehrmacht eagle and maker mark at the reverse.
Markings:
- Depicts the Wehrmacht eagle (the symbol for the German military) at the underside spoon handle. Also contains the manufacturers mark on the underside stem, "W.U.S.39"
- The marking, "W.U.S." is the abbreviation for "Wehrmacht Unterkunft Verwaltung" (Armed Forces Accommodation Administration) and the 39 is likely the year of production, 1939.
