This is an authentic porcelain Wehrmacht dinner (or maybe soup) plate of Nazi Germany. This piece is (likely) from a WW2 era Heer (German Army) mess hall.
Description:
Made of high quality porcelain; produced with durability & design to withstand regular use. Maintains mostly its original polish throughout & contains standard age wear. For its age, it’s in excellent condition w/quite visible markings at the underside.
Markings:
- Sharply depicts the German national eagle (Reichsadler) w/swastika, indicating it was produced for use by the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) during WW2.
- Date stamped (production) 1941 w/the manufacturers mark, Rosenthal of Selb, Germany.
- Philipp Rosenthal, the porcelain companies founder, was Catholic but of Jewish origin & forced out of the company's management in 1934 as a result, although the Nazi regime continued buying his porcelain wares.
