This is an authentic WW2 Nazi Germany Luftwaffe Motor Vehicle "Distinguished Driver" Trade Badge (patch - cloth insignia) or in German, "Kraftfahrpersonal Tätigkeitsabzeichen". Originally introduced on 8 November 1935, it was for wear by all EM/NCO personnel who qualified (fulfilled the requirements) to obtain a military driver's license AND were appointed as a driver. By mid-1942, a gilt cord piping was added to the perimeter to identify those who had displayed, "distinguished performance as a driver".
The patch was worn on the lower left sleeve of the service tunic and flight/field blouses.
Note: This badge is different than the Armed Forces Driver's Proficiency Badge, introduced 23 October 1942.
