WW1 (British) British War Medal (Named) in Silver w/Framed KIA Attestation

This WW1 British War Medal was earned by Private Eugene McDermott who served w/the 1st & 9th Battalion, The Kings (Liverpool Regiment). He was Killed-In-Action on 25 September 1916. His sacrifice is honored & remembered at the Thiepval Memorial in Somme, France. His memorial is in perpetual care of the British Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

The medal is inscriptedly named (see photos) and is framed along with a British Commonwealth War Graves Commission confirmation document attesting to Private McDermott's awarding of the British War Medal & his death in Somme, France.

History:
Instituted on 26 July 1919, & awarded to those British & Imperial forces rendering service during WW1 between the dates 5 August 1914 & 11 November 1918. It was one of a number of WW1 campaign medals awarded.

While recipients of the WW1 Victory Medal, the 1914 Star or 1914-15 Star qualified for the British War Medal, those whom were not in direct combat or a war zone could also be awarded this medal without ever being awarded the aforementioned.

Description:
Struck by Royal Mint in either Silver or bronze, measuring 1.4" Dia. w/straight clasp suspension without swivel.

Obverse:
Side profile of King George V (1910-1935) with the text, "GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP" (George V, King of all the British Isles and Emperor of India).

Reverse:
St George naked on horseback & armed with a short sword. The horse is trampling on the Prussian eagle shield. The dates 1914 & 1918, the inclusive dates of WW1 appear in the upper left & right quadrants of the medal.
