Post-WW2 (USA) Navy Occupation Service Medal w/Ribbon Bar - Authentic Issue
Established on 28 January 1948 by a Navy Department General Order, to recognize Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel for occupation of United States enemy territories during WW2.
Qualifying regions & dates:
- Austria: 9 May 1945 - 25 Oct 1955
- Germany: 9 May 1945 - 5 May 1955
- Italy: 8 Nov 1945 - 15 Dec 1947
- Trieste: 9 May 1945 - 25 Oct 1954
- Berlin: 9 May 1945 - 2 Oct 1990
- Asiatic-Pacific Area: 2 Sep 1945 - 27 Apr 1952
Note: Occupational service in Korea from 27 Jun 1950 to 27 Apr 1952 were also "eligible if they did not receive the Korean Service Medal.
Other qualifications:
- Europe/Asia Clasps:
- Authorized on the ribbon to denote service in those campaign areas.
- Berlin Airlift Device:
- 90 consecutive days supporting the Berlin airlift (26 Jun 1948 - 30 Sep 1949)
Note: Two versions of this medal exist, with the service name inscription at reverse being the only difference (Navy & Marine Corps).
