Cold War (USSR) 60 Year Anniversary Medal of Soviet Union Armed Forces

Established 28 January 1978, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the Soviet 60 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR Medal 1918-1978 marks 60 years of the Soviet Armed Forces' existence.

It was conferred upon all ranks of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Preserving Public Order, and the Committee for State Security.

Description:
Composed of brass, measuring 32mm. The ring is made as a part of the medal & is mounted to a five-sided aluminum suspension w/ribbon attachable by a pin-back.

Obverse: Dated 1918-1978 with a depiction of a Soviet soldier holding an AK47 rifle & at the background, a submarine in the water.

Reverse: The Russian inscription translation: "Sixty Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR".
