WW2 (Nazi Germany) Hitler Youth Armband

$185.00

This is an authentic Nazi Germany Hitler Youth armband. Armbands bearing the swastika were introduced by the early National Socialists in 1920 as an identifier for party members. Various forms existed for different party branches and affiliated organizations like the SS, SA, and Hitler Youth. This specific design was used by the Hitler-Jugend (HJ), the youth wing of the Nazi Party, which all German children were mandated to join from 1936 onwards.

Description:
A red band with a central white horizontal stripe, and a separate white diamond-shaped field applied to the center, which contains a black swastika. It's a multi-piece construction, where the red background, white stripe, white diamond, and black swastika were all made from separate pieces of fabric and sewn together. Some later-war or economy versions were screen-printed as a single piece of fabric.

Condition:
Significant age/use wear, including ink bleed-through, fraying, & reddish-brown staining (possibly blood), and some fraying, all consistent w/period use and subsequent removal from a uniform.

History:
Believing German youth to be the future of the Third Reich, the official Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend - HJ) organization was formed in 1935 (a similar organization to the Boy Scouts, save for the Nazi indoctrination). At ten years old, boys (Hitler Jugend) & girls (Bund Deutscher Mádel) were enlisted in the organization.
