This is an authentic WW2 Nazi Germany Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge (Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). It was instituted on 31 March 1942, by Hermann Göring to recognize Luftwaffe personnel who had distinguished themselves in ground combat.

Criteria for the award included participating in three separate combat operations on different days, being wounded in action, or earning another decoration during ground combat. Members of the Luftwaffe Field Divisions and Flak crews using anti-aircraft guns against ground targets were eligible.

This is in great combat worn condition w/standard age wear matching its period of wear.

Description:
Two-piece, die struck alloy, solid backed award in the form of a vertical oval.

Obverse: The badge features a Luftwaffe eagle with a swastika atop a storm cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates, all within an oak leaf wreath.

Reverse: Missing the original hinge, pin, and catch assembly (Price reduced as a result).
