This is an authentic Antique German Reservist Flask (Reservistenflasche) from the Imperial German Empire, ca. 1890s - 1910s. These flaks were not standard issue but rather commemorative souvenirs commissioned by soldiers to mark the end of their active duty service. Meant as keepsakes rather than for active combat use, they "typically" celebrated a soldier's unit & time in service.
The panels on this flask contain traditional German sentimental phrases:
1). "Du warst mein Trost..." (You were my consolation...), referring to a soldier's sweetheart.
2). "In fröhlicher Runde..." (In a happy circle...), likely referring to camaraderie
This example is complete with its original carrying strap and cap; was sourced directly from the region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
