This is a WW2 (Nazi Germany) Police Shako Helmet Badge (or Polizei Tschako Adler). These were mounted on a Shako (a tall, cylindrical military cap) worn by various branches of the German police, such as the Schutzpolizei or Ordnungspolizei. Design variations of these eagle emblems were used for different purposes; smaller versions were used for visor caps, while larger badges were specific to the Shako or sometimes cartouche pouche.
Description:
The badge features an eagle with outspread wings clutching a wreathed swastika, surrounded by a larger oval wreath. Most original examples from this period were die-stamped from aluminum and often silvered. They were mounted via two vertical wire prongs on the back, securing the badge through the front of the helmet.
Note: Multiple in stock...Shipped item may not be exactly as appears in the photos - may contain slight variation in color/standard age wear.
