$18.00

This is an authentic period book publication of the Nazi Germany era titled "Ewiges Deutschland" (Eternal Germany). It is subtitled "Ein deutsches Hausbuch" (A German House Book). It was published as a Christmas gift (Weihnachtsgabe) for supporters of the Winterhilfswerk (Winter Relief Organization or WHW) of the German People. It's a 352-page anthology designed to serve as a "family bible" for German households & contains a collection of patriotic poems, song lyrics, short stories, and quotes from figures ranging from the Brothers Grimm to Adolf Hitler.

The book is entirely written/typed in the old style gothic Fraktur text (banned in 1941) - In German language. It is known for its woodcut illustrations (Holzschnitte) by artists such as Ernst von Dombrowski.

- - of note: Immediately following WW2, the Allied Control Council enacted Law No. 1 on 20 September 1945. This law repealed Nazi laws and banned the display of the swastika and other Nazi symbols in Germany. Beneath the "scratch-out", below the logo was once a swastika. The original owner, upon the passing of Law No. 1 scratched it out rendering it (nearly) unreadable.

The book is in fair condition; aside from the previous mentioned swastika coverup, the book has some binding breakaway & a bit of warping of the hard cover. Save for that, all pages appear to be in tact and in good readable condition.
