This is a medallion depicting the Desert Fox, Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. Best known for his successes leading German troops in North Africa, commanding the Afrika Corps during WWII & where the moniker “Desert Fox” originated. Rommel also commanded soldiers along the Atlantic Wall in defense of the Normandy allied invasion. He died (Oct 1944) via cyanide capsule when offered it, in exchange for allowing his family, wife and children to live.

Description:
A 2” diameter medallion with a double striped, one black & one white (Prussian colors) ribbon.

Obverse:
Rommel in is full desert uniform including binoculars he was well known to regularly wear.
