British Empire (1887) Queen Victoria "Golden Jubilee" (1837-1887) Commemorative Medal
This medal was produced in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria's (1837 - 1887) Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years on the thrown of the British Monarchy. She reigned until her death in 1901 reigning for a then record, 64 years.
Obverse:
A mature Queen Victoria, facing left, wearing a crown and veil. The dates 1837 & 1887 squeezing the name "Victoria" w/"Queen" emblazoned at the bottom.
Reverse:
The Text "Jubilee Commemoration June 21st 1887" across the top while the name "Arthur Hill Mayor" across the bottom. He was the mayor of the town which produced this medal during the commemoration (all towns in England produced a similar medal with only the reverse differing).
