British Commonwealth campaign medals, instituted in 1945 and presented for service during World War II.

This particular medal lot belonged to and was mailed to a commanding officer in the British military by the Royal Post. It includes the original packaging w/mailer box complete w/vintage smell (quite a nice collection). The box is original, addressed to recipient from the O.H.M.S. (On His Majesty's Service) referring, in this case to King George VI, whom reigned during this time period.

Each medals eligibility criteria described as below:

1. War Medal 1939-1945: Recognizes(d) those who served in the Armed Forces or Merchant Navy (must have been served at sea) full-time for at least 28 days between 3 September 1939 and 2 September 1945.

2. Defence Medal: Recognizes(d) both military and civilian service when in support of the war effort or the armed forces.

The medal's ribbon shows nice age wear/fade - obviously worn by the recipient on their Class A uniform - denoted by the attachment bar at the reverse.
